I don't think so. Our winters don't usually get less than 33 degrees F. Last Dec/Jan we might have had one night that got down to 30 degrees F. It looked fine until April/May. As far as drought, I keep testing the ground around the plant to see if it needs water, and until about June 1, it did not. I gave it some water at that time. I keept testing and giving it water when it needs it.
