I have a Cleredendrum tomsonaie (bleeding heart vine) growing in my kitchen window assisted by the burglar bars in the window. It has reached the top of the window (approx 2 m). My question: how far down must I cut it in spring (sept in South Africa)

I wouldn't take out more than 2/3 of the foliage, though more pruning can be done later as new shoots appear from the base.
