My philadelphus is about 5ft tall and just finishing flowering. I'd like to cut it hard back. How much can I cut n is now a good time? Thank you

Now is the correct time to cut back, but 5 feet tall is not that much for most Philadelphus.
If you need it to be smaller then cut out the oldest (darkest coloured) branches first and then reduce the new stuff by about half.
