LILLIES

Do I just cut off the dead flowers or do I have to cut down the stem If so how far do I cut them back

Answers

I grow my lilies in a pot ... year after year and they flower well. After flowering I cut the stems down to about half length and feed with a good liquid feed twice. I also keep well watered. When the stems are loose enough to pull off with ease I do that and then leave till the new shoots appear next spring. Hope this helps....it works for me.

I just dead head, leaving as many leaves on the stem as possible as they feed the bulb for next year's flowers. A general foliar feed will also benefit it; still keep an eye out for lily beetle though.
