this has been the first year and I assume foxes not cats!!! that sitting in the garden unpleasant!! the smell from the borders is like a litter tray or a tom cat on heat!!!!!!!!!!!! does anyone have any ideas what I can do to remove this smell

Nope it isn't but if you leave the existing dung the animal will continue to use the area as a loo!

Your going to have to done some marigold gloves and remove the excrement. Probably foxes but could be cats. Once you cleared it all you'll need to top dress/much and ensure that the beast(s) can't get back into.
