Healthy Camelia plant 2 years old but no flowers (Newcastle)

Answers

In a pot or in the ground? And is it in an east facing position, such that it gets early morning sun in winter?

Also they can take a few years to flower, at least ours did.

Many Thanks, That is very helpful. I will pass it on to my sister-as I bought her plants - Sylvia

I disagree with Moongrower on that - most camellias should flower when they're quite small, even in their first year.

I ordered it for my sister who is 80 for a present. Can't remember how long ago-longer than a year. It was delivered direct from QVC I believe. It arrived in flower, but not flowered since. She's says it is a very healthy looking plant otherwise. She asks me if I knew why it hadn't flowered. So I went on Google & found this site-which looks very interesting. I wondered if it was the soil, because I live in Lincoln & once tried to grow one & didn't have any luck. Thanks for all your help.

If it arrived in flower then it was possibly stressed and is taking a year off. The soil where you live is not really suitable for camellias they need a neutral to acidic soil - i.e. ericaceous. Also as Bamboo said is it an east facing border where it gets the sun first thing in the morning in Ja/Feb time.

Oh Thank You-What a nice site & helpful people. I'll start on my own gardening questions soon. Waiting for my 1st Grapevine Black Hamburgh-from Hampton Court (going to grow in small greenhouse, which is south facing-but just gets half day sun as tucked around corner - altho suppliers say better outside-I don't think so with our weather). Also bought 5 Gerberas, supposed to be delivered early April. Just arrived. So small they would get lost/eaten in garden, so potted up & put in greenhouse (no movement yet). Thanks again
