The water in our water butt comes off our roof which is covered with oak leaves.
This was superb until this year when vegetables watered die back. Does this mean that the mixture has become too rich. Too late to empty it this summer. What if I dilute it with tap water?

Leaves aren't good for the roof, either, so I would sweep them off, if at all possible, Desmond!

Oak leaves are full of tannin which locks nutrients up in the soil making it difficult for plants to absorb through their roots so not really a good idea.
