Any idea what might be happening to my privet? I have two, one on either side of a fountain. They get occasionally wet but only one or two days a month for a few hours. They both get full Sun. Both were totally dead looking but this one has started this new growth, the other still old and dry looking. Thanks

The white patches look like powdery mildew common if there is excess moisture and not enough air.
Personally, I'd dig them out and plant something interesting.
