I had the same ongoing problem and there is no easy answer. You could try sectioning off some lawn to prevent your dog access,my response was to put down artificial grass but that dosn't always suit, see my Thought provoking topic, kerryvw.

Cut the dead turf out and put in flowering plants. Eventually, you may find out that you and your pup have now established a wonderfull cottage garden.

have you tried those dog rock things that vets sell - you put in their water bowl and it neutralises their urine - if they'll actually drink the water, I understand some dogs won't.

« what is the green stuff growing between my paving slabs and how to kill it.
Unfortunately, there isn't one. There are lots of suggestions on line, lemon juice in the dogs water, special lotions and potions for the pooch....but none work.
The only thing to do is to is to follow your dog, then copiously, and i mean copiously, water the area where it urinated
