o.k i do have poor soil, my house is on a steep hill and when it rains the topsoil is loosened. my 12 year old boy has helped put a wall up at the bottom of the bank and he has dug out and created a payh half way up to try and make things easier. love tobysmum

Good luck Tonysmum...Though you may want to consider growing plants that are happier with your soil conditions and a steep hillside.

Tobysmum (and apologies for calling you 'Tonysmum') I don't grow flowers for cutting so am not the right person to ask. I would suggest you post a separate question asking about plants you can grow on poor limey soil and see what happens.

They need a well drained humus rich soil so if you have impoverished soil they will not grow well. Work a lot of organic compost or other humus rich material into your soil.
