Answer found. At the end of July I asked you good people about a shrub/tree I'd spotted when driving home. It's finally been identified for me as Rose of Sharon so will look out for it at the garden centre.

Leigh,a few did try to identify it ,but we didn't have a photo to help..Glad you found your answer Lynne..Sorry to confuse the issue, but I thought Rose of Sharon was a Hypericum, and yellow, not pink ? unless there is a pink variety..I could be mistaken..apologies if so..

That's the problem with common names Bloomer - seems several shrubs are known as such.

Seems that as Mg says there are several of this name. The one I would like seems to be an Hibiscus.(I think)

Type Hibiscus into your search engine and take a look at the images.

Lynn, that's what I love about GOY. The folks are so helpful especially to amateurs like me.

I was thinking of the little ground cover hypericum as well. That's another good thing about Goy Treetop - something new to learn all the time!

Thanks for that,Mg.I didn't know some other plants went by that name..still,never to old to learn :o) and Treetop,
GoY has been invaluable to me too :o)

My heart sank when I saw the word Hypericum---I'm always pulling out the yellow one as it spreads like crazy in my garden.Helpful to read all the comments however as this makes me realise how little I know but I do learn a lot from this site. Thanks all.

I just think that unless this sight is more human it will like it seams to be either just like an encyclopedia or things just wont get answerd as is starting to happen losing the site all its warmth that made it so great . some of these answers could of been given before . I managed something and I didn't have a clue and look at the response that got . im just saying as I really like the site .

Noseyp. if you'd read Lynne's original question I seriously doubt you'd have come up with the answer! All of us do our best to answer the many questions we don't always get it right but we do try our best.

N'potter.I found people to be very helpful considering the pretty poor description I gave and the lack of a photo. As I said originally I only had a quick glimpse of the shrub in question so I was grateful that folks took the time and effort to respond.

wow look at the answers I get for my comment which is just a matter of fact compared to the answers before my comment . its not the first time its happened . just the first time ive said something . I never said the people arnt generaly friendly and I managed too answer something without the answer too the question let alone very little info etc . all I did was apolagise for my lack of knowledge and peoples lack of any attempt at an answer .

NP, that is the whole point… we couldn't answer - there wasn't enough info!

I feel unhappy for the questioner too when nobody answers, but I'm sure it is because nobody knows the answer, as was true in this case before we were given more information. Please don't be upset NP, I'm sure we all do our best to help when we can.
