Can I hard prune, back to bare wood, my choisya 'aztec pearl'. At the moment it is a 6' solid dome that flowers twice a year. I cut it back about 6" twice a year after flowering?

Hi, welcome to GoY, these are pruning group 8, which means a light trim, or cut back slightly, after flowering, if you wanted to open it up a bit, you could take some of the branches back to ground level, but this plant has a maximum height of 8 ft, so for the sake of 2 ft, you could just let it do it's own thing, Derek.

I've not had a problem cutting Choisya hard back before...they've always shooted again from bare wood....but i just don't feel like i should recommend it to others for some reason !!!...

Maybe reduce it over 2 or 3 years to reduce the shock to the plant

How do I say thanks?
