I HAVE AN ACER PALMATUM, WHICH HAS LOST ITS LEAVES AND HAS TURNED WHITE ! ANY IDEA WHY ? IT IS IN A SHELTERED BUT SUNNY SPOT IN MY SMALL WALLED GARDEN.WEST LOTHIAN SCOTLAND.THE PLANT IS 5 YEARS OLDAND THREE FOOT TALL.

Not sounding good. Towards the base of the tree can you scratch the bark and check if it is green underneath? It could have been a number of things - poor drainage, lack of water in sunny weather, vine weevil grubs...
