I have a Japanese painted Fern that I intend to grow in a large pot on my shaded porch, has anyone any information as to what compost to use for this.

Good morning< A well drained, compost rich soil, spray often likes humidity
and if you can allow exposure to some evening sun, it will bring out the colour.
Lovely plant!

Suggest a mix of John Innes No. 2 and a bit of soil conditioning compost, or leaf mould preferably. Doesn't like to dry out, likes fairly moist conditions.
