Very broad question this! Revamping my small trianglar garden, have pulled out, cut down and generally gutted it. I need privacy along one side [not too tall but colourful] plus something for mottled shade either in pots or varigated leaves, though am thinking more pots to be able to move around and LOTS of colour for the autumn/winter months [Summer I can cope with, I mean you can't go wrong with bright geraniums can you? Anyway this is your mission should you choose to accept it! All help gratefully received.

you could put some mirrors in too really change the dynamic and light . have a raised deck and just loads of colourfull flowers around it so it looks like the square or triangular de3ck is floating on them . as steragram asked a bit more info would really help .

Hi thanks for that will take all on board, its the colourful flowers I'm having trouble finding for the Autumn,Winter though expect it's more colourful varigated foliage? Any suggestions there?
And re the orchid - a sad tale there. She was beautiful and was loaded with flowers, I thought I would try to lift the stem SLIGHTLY and prop it up just a LITTLE and it simply snapped off completely! I put the stem in a vase until the flowers died ahhh. The plant is still healthy and I shall try again.

What size is the garden and which direction does the side you want privacy face. ie will the plants be in shade? Is there a hedge or a fence there already and how high is it?
By the way, did your orchid recover?
