Wooly Aphid

Trying hard to control (ideally eliminate) this pest on my apple tree - Ive heard that only way to get rid of them is to brush all areas with methylated spirits which seems like a major task - any hints/suggestions gladly received.

A systemic insecticide should do it. It works by the tree absorbing the insecticide. I don't know what ones are available these days. Lots have been banned.

Provado should work, Paul, but be sure to follow the directions strictly. I would be very cautious using systemics on edible plants.

Provado products kill bees as well as the target insect.
