Our daughter has a twisted hazel which is being overshadowed by a large gunnera in her bog garden. She would like to move the hazel but is not sure when would be the best time of year. Any advice would be appreciated.

Might be easier to remove part of the gunnera.

Or do away with this hazel and plant a new one elsewere

late October is probably best - but only if the twisted hazel hasn't been planted longer than 3 years, after which, it'll be extremely difficult to get out all the roots without serious damage to the tree.
