Can anyone tell me what this yellow shoot, grass is in my lawn and how should I remove it? This summer I did dig out and re sow large areas of the lawn trying get to get rid of field wood rush which, despite treatment was spreading rapidly.

It could be a club fungus - nothing to worry about, if so.

Snap Landgirl. Check out Clavaria fumosa , usually found in grass, and Clavaria argillacea usually on acid sites with moss. Or Clavulinopsis fusiformis or helvola, aggain usually in grass fileds or woodlands..
No need to remove it, it will disappear quite quickly on its own.

It looks like a small bulb seedling that has got mixed in with the soil. I would suspect crocus or muscari (grape hyacinth).
