Any suggestions for containers for lettuce?
I thought I might try some salad leaves but as I have no room for them they would have to be in a container. I can't think of anything suitable, it seems like pots have a low surface area and so the yield would be low. Does anyone have any ideas please?

We have a couple of plastic planters, 3ft long by 8inches wide and I have just planted 15 salad leaf lettuce into one of these. If the planting proves to be too dense then we will have to pull a few out and eat them :-)

For microgreens and young mezclun, Bryony, you could get 15 cm wide and deep "window boxes" and line a couple of walks with them. For more mature greens, you'll need troughs 25 cm wide and deep, which might take up a little too much of the walkway.
