Pruning box

I have a lovely healthy Box bush in my new garden, but it has been allowed to get much too big for it's situation. If I cut it back really hard, will it survive, should I try to trim it back gradually, or will I just have to sacrifice it after taking some cuttings? If I can prune it, what is the best time of year to do so?

You can cut it back hard but be prepared to wait some time for it to look good again, give it a good feed after you cut it. You can cut them near the base and they usuallt recover.I would cut it in Spring.Whatever you do ,cuttings etc. you will have to be patient!!
