Acidic, well-drained, woodland margin conditions will suit them well. Aside from Meconopsis cambrica (the Welsh poppy) all Meconopsis species tend to either thrive or die in any given garden location, and can be very tricky to succeed with in the wrong soil.

Many of the meconopsis are monocarpic so you need to collect their seed or let them seed where they are.
