Does anyone know the name and type of this flower please, it has just grown in the border, I presume it must have seeded itself as we have certainly not planted it. The inside of the flower head is shaded a beautiful shade of purple.

Answers
Sometimes called Gladiolus murielae and Acidanthera murielae. Corm must have been in another plant perhaps.

I think it's a species gladiolus, possibly Gladiolus calliathus. No idea how it got there though - they grow from corms.
