My pot grown Sedum Rose Carpet has been beautiful this autumn but has now finished for the year and looking very sorry for itself; the leaves are yellow and beginning to die off. Is is OK if I cut these leaves off now or should I leave them on the plant until the Spring. I'm just worried that they will go rotten and harm the plant if I leave them on over Winter.

If you leave the plant to die back naturally, it will come to no harm from doing this, it's not essential to cut it back.

Thankyou Johnp58 and Bamboo for your helpful answers. Yes Johnp58 I can see the tiny rosettes growing already, I'm looking forward to next year's show. Many thanks both.

Just an update for everyone....... I left the plant well alone over the winter as you suggested, gave it a light tidy up in spring and now, once again, I have a beautiful plant full of flower buds. So glad you were able to help me. Thank you!

« I know this isn't a gardening question, I'm thinking of buying a 9 in 1 steam...
I have a lovely sedum in a pot and I shall be cutting it back soon....they are very hardy. You will see the tiny rosettes growing from the base in spring that will grown into the stems and flowers. They are so attractive to insects....would not be without mine.
