I put a single rose in water and forgot about it. To my surprise it has now grown new leaves and has roots. Should I pot it up in garden soil or would compost be better

I've been trying to do rose cuttings ever since spring and none have succeeded! You are incredibly lucky. I must try just popping them in water!
