I've just had 200tons of earth removed from my garden on a hillside to create a flat terrace, and therefore have exposed the subsoil with alot of stone below, the, upper part of the garden is acid with Rhodedendrons, is there any solution other than raised beds to improve this over time?

I would have stripped the top soil off first, put it aside and then laid this back on the level surface. Unless you now buy in more topsoil than a mixture of paving and raised beds would seem to be the best option.
