how do you prune perrenial wallflowers and can i take cuttings from the parent plant

I took six cuttings last autumn and all survived and are now beginning to flower. I just took a piece of new growth (with no flowe took off the lower leaves and put them in cutting compost. As to pruning these plants I just dead head them to keep the flowers coming and to stop them getting straggly.
