been offered bare root blackcurrant bushes approx 2ft tall can they winter in plant pots or do they need to be in the ground thankyou

If you have no alternative to pots try wrapping the pots in insulating material - you should prevent the compost in the pots from freezing. The ground is a better bet as MG says unless it is very wet or frozen.
