Hi, My friend has a purple leaved plum tree in her garden.
It is a prunus cerasifera 'Nigra'. This year it has an abundance of fruit on it
and we would like to know if the fruit will be edible when ripe or could the fruit be used for culinary purposes.

The fruit taste is variable but is edible and can be used for making jam.
