Can I cut my cape gooseberrys down to grownd level for the winterand cover them please? I live by the sea, at clacton on sea essex

Didn't realise they would overwinter outside!
If they don't survive there's no need to buy seeds - you can use the ones from the fruit in the supermarket - worked well for me.

I would cut the stems down to say 15-25cm if they have developed a few branches. If it is a new plant then give it a few years before pruning it.
