Will a viburnum nanum flower in our south facing garden in Newcastle upon Tyne? We do not have space for a fully grown viburnum - the nanum seems to be an ideal size but have read that they might not flower as readily.

Was about to say that the nanum part of the name can be applied to at least three different species of Viburnum but I see it says Viburnum farreri.
Well, this species is completely hardy and can grow in virtually any aspect, even north facing so it will be perfectly happy in your south facing garden. The form is as the name suggests smaller or certainly more compact and mounded than other named forms of this species and the flowers smell just as good too.
The flowers can be caught by frost sometimes but it is still worth growing.
