What if they aren't killed off Urbanite? Will they carry on next year?

Yes they will continue to grow if not frosted and flower in spring/summer. The UK is a frost prone place at any time of the year, so it is a matter of time. Begonia can be frosted by 1-2C, so you do not need minus figures.

Mild damp weather has confused a lot of plants. Whether soft plants will survive the winter will depend on what the winter is like - just because autumn was mild and damp doesn't mean that winter will be. A couple of sharp frosts could easily kill things off.
