There are a few north american sites which state to cover with a bag or similar giving total darkness as mentioned- for at least 12 hours per night starting from mid September.See www.beginner-gardening.com./poinsettia-to-bloom-again.html.Not tried this myself but worth a go.

For the amateur, with extreme difficulty. The plant has to be given an exact amount of time in total darkness, with an exact amount of time in sunlight for an exact number of days. Sorry but I have not got the figures to hand.
By the way the red 'flower' are actually not flowers, they are modified leaves called bracts. Thought you might be interested.
