In our grade they seem to like the Amelanchiers best - another member of the Rose family. They absolutely do not kill trees, they are quite delightful little solitary bees and are a very welcome presence in any garden.

We've had leafcutter bees and they made amusing holes in leaves (especially rose leaves) but did no permanent damage.
