I have been told that a wilting miniature Sunflower that does not react to water, may have root damage, does anyone have any idea on how I can revive it?

if the roots are damaged then there is little you can do I 'm afraid. from the photo the stem looks black/rotten where it emerges from the soil. The leaves look as if they have gone too far for revival. sorry
