I buy bird seed in bulk and I keep it in the garage. I have tried buying large plastic boxes to keep it in but the mice have bitten through and enjoyed the feast ( in fact I found a dead one in - must have eaten too much and couldn't get out!). I have also kept them in an old suitcase which has worked well for a few years but noticed this morning they have bitten through the material and tried to nest. Can anyone give me any foolproof ideas how best to store the seed. Thanks

just buy the old dustbins from b and q if you don't want to kill them .

metal bins are the best. as Noseypotter says a dustbin will work, jut remember to put the lid on properly.

I kept my pony food in metal dustbins with a thick rubber lid , any metal works I think.....and wooden mousetraps.....

Ha there will be no mousetraps. Ah metal dustbins - yes...My hubby and I have both laughed as it's obvious when it's pointed out ;-) . Thanks to all. Happy new year to you all

I had a metal kitchen bin for keeping seeds in the shed. That was chewed through and even the shed has two holes in it. Rats? An old fashioned dustbin is thicker and perhaps harder to get in to so probably the best idea.Good luck Pdb; I gave it up as a bad job and now keep the seed in the house.
