my friend gave me a Guara plant which she has had it in her garden for a couple of years but this time is has not grown, is it possible to repot it or take cutting and what do I look for to see if it healthy..

It's easy to take cuttings - you can root them in water!
I'm surprised it hasn't thrived - is it in a sunny position? That's what they prefer. Healthiness would be plenty of flower stems, just coming into bloom now.
Do I gather that yours is in a pot? Maybe you could find it a place in the soil. I might well be happier there.
