On the park next to my house there are two salix caprea trees that are higher than the roof of my two storey house. They are less than three metres from the side of my property surely these are too close?
Already done this, thanks. I was initially worried because some of the branches are nearly touching the side of the house. Their surveyor told me that unless they touch the house there's nothing to be done (budget restraints). I can chop bits off myself though as long as I don't kill the trees! Wouldn't discuss the roots. It was quite a frustrating conversation but I don't know anything about these trees and wondered if I was worrying for nothing. Does anyone have an idea how much an independant tree report could cost me?
The park was put in at the same time the houses were built as part of the estate.

If this is a park owned by the council I'd get in touch with them and express your concerns. Which were there first though your house or the trees?

I think I'd be absolutely not trimming anything off and encouraging the branches to touch the house, if possible. And then contact them again so they do something. And if you haven't done it already, put your worries in writing and repeat what the surveyor said and send a copy to the council, keep the other one - that way, if you have subsidence problems later on, you've got a record of their refusal to do anything and hopefully a claim against them.

ive herd that if the trees were there before the house and well istablished they wont be a problem to your house . just because the park and houses were built at the same time doesnt mean the trees were planted then . i think for your own protection thow better safe than sorry .
