I would agree, it's a Houttuynia cordata 'Chameleon' most of which has reverted to non-variegated foliage, i.e. it's turned back to the straight species H. cordata

thanks, yes it's mostly shade in my garden, glad today, it's boiling!, it's in a spot that gets some sun morning and evening, but not much, about an hour

Lots of variegated plants have a tendency to revert back to their original, non variegated form, and Houttunynias do seem to do this a lot.

The non variegated growth will always be stronger since it contains more chlorophyll, so if you want to preserve the variegation then you should remove all of the all-green / non-veriegated sections of the plant. Having said that I personally prefer the non variegated version of the plant so would be quite happy to leave it just as it is.

When you get so many flowers the colour of the leaves are less relevant and it looks very healthy.

lthanks. I thought it had died in the frost and tried t get it out the pot. Good job I couldn't as it started showing shoots a few days later! Shows how much I know!
