A good quick growing annual is the tropaeolum Canary Creeper or alternatively a morning glory (ipomoea). For perennials, you can't really improve on a good clematis, and a quick growing one is the yellow bell Radar Love which can be grown from seed and soon makes a huge plant with beautiful seed heads which last well into winter.
