I would guess at a fig too, though a leaf that goes with it would help id it.

I can see why you would say that as some fig species do look like this but I think it could be an immature Japanese Quince fruit (Chaenomeles).

It's just I have seen the young fruit with these white dots all over them. These disappear later as they mature.

Thank you all so much.Did wonder about quince,as its definately not a fig,just thought quinces were yellow! Will take a picture of the leaves later and upload photo.

Quince fruit is yellow when it is ripe which will not be for another month or more.
