Yes, it's an Arctium lappa - Greater Burdock.

Thank you so much, now I can do a bit of research on this plant.

Its a british native and the flower seed heads have little hooks on them. Our dog used to bring them home. chew them out of his fur and leave them to germinate in the garden. the roots go down to australia :o)

The roots are edible,,,,if you can dig them out!

A cat may have brought it into the garden on it's fur as this plants utilises animals to spread it's seeds.
