I am trying to find viola called " Delpht "(White with Blue edge) for my sister in law. She bought it about 10 years ago and would like to replace it but we cannot find it anywhere.
Can anyone help?

Hi Lucky,

I'm afraid there is no Viola named 'Delpht' - I have a copy of the RHS Plantfinder from 10 years ago (which also covers the previous 5 years) and there was not then, nor is there now any Viola of that name grown by any UK nursery. The only Viola with a similar name is 'Delphine' - which is shown on the webpage below:

Thank you for your searching and surprised at the outcome.
My sister in law remembers a large and beautiful display at a garden centre so it seems she may have seen another white plant with blue edge.
Could it be a pansy? Is there anything called "delpht"?

Hmmm....there is a fairly well known Pansy named 'Delft' - the lower three petals are creamy yellow with a little fine whiskering while the upper two petals are blue with a creamy edge - which doesn't sound much like your sister-in-law's plant unfortunately!

Thanks again . This could be it... although I couldnt find any pictures of Pansy "Delpht"
I will ask her if she has forgotten the actual colour as it was some years ago her original plant died.

Lucky - the Pansy is named 'Delft' rather than 'Delpht' :)

Thanks again
I have looked under " Delft" but we get pictures of the pottery and lots of other things but not a picture of the actual" Pansy Delft"
My sister- in- law seems certain it wasn't spelt as in the pottery "delft" but as it was so long ago she may not remember correctly.
I think if I could find a good picture of the Pansy "Delft" you say is fairly well known it may remind her...but all the usual plant sellers don't appear to stock it under that name.

Lucky - I think the Pansy 'Delft' is a Thompson & Morgan plant so may be available via them

How do I say thanks?
