The flower buds being eaten by something

BThe flower buds being eaten by something. It happened last year and is beginning this year. I don't know what that might be. This year I had planted new ones in a large tub against the house. I would be grateful for some ideas!
Sorry I should have said. They are anemonies. Spring flowering in different colours. Something is eating the buds.

Are these crocuses? Birds are very fond of the yellow ones, I think sparrows are the chief offenders.
