Rusty Box Plants

United Kingdom

Hi
I have had for a number of years some box plants in containers. Instead of being dark
green they are a sickly green with occasional orange, yellow or red leaves (rusty looking). First I thought I might be over watering them so I cut back on watering but it made no difference.
Can you tell me what the problem could be and what I can do to remedy it.
Many thanks

Hi . The most likely cause is, lack of food, they also tend to do this when in full sun. It may be that just a feed of Growmore or other fertilizer, scratched into the surface of the pot and watered well in and placing the pots in the shade, should be sufficient. A few of the leaves may be too far gone but usually they pick up quite quickly, especially if shaded .

Hi Poaannua

Thank you for taking the trouble to reply to my question.
I will try some fertilizer and keep my fingers crossed.

Many thanks.
