I am baffled, can any anyone give me a clue as to what this might be?

I would say several bulbs that look like Ornithogalum or Narcissus. Have you dug garden compost into that patch, Treetop; if yes they have probably come out of the compost bin.

Thanks for replying guys. The reason I have no idea what it is is because we have new neighbours move in a couple of doors away and they have their own ideas about what they want to put into their garden. They told me to have whatever I wanted from their front. I know there were daffs and tulips I just dug up everything I could see and replanted it wherever I had some space.

My guess is Grape Hyacinth (Muscari armeniacum). I have plenty in my garden whose leaves look just like that. If so it should start flowering in a couple of weeks.
