I have a mahonia charity, it has spots in the leaves and the leaves are dropping off, what can I do?

Any chance of a photograph of the "spots" - if not, what do they look like (brown with yellow ring outside, just brown, purple, etc.) and where is the plant growing, pot or ground. This assumes you've been watering it well if you've had drought conditions for the last few weeks.
