Purchased patio cherry velvet taste which is full of bud. Do I need to prune it now or wait until later after flowering.

Don't prune it at this time, you will have a good chance of getting silver leaf, as said, prune if you need to in late summer.

If the shape is not good (should be a goblet shape) then yes, you can prune now. Also remove any suckers coming up around the trunk. Otherwise leave it alone and enjoy the blossom and fruit! Normal pruning time would be late summer.
