I went to my mothers greenhouse to tidy it (shes 92), all over the floor to a depth of about 12in and about 5ft long was a pile of earth, there were some small holes from outside does anyone know what this might be that caused it.

Grab that mole soil ! My mother used to send me out with a bucket and shovel to collect it up for potting soil in
1942. I remember she said all the weed roots had been chewed up, so it was sterile.

Some sort of burrowing animal by the sound of it - badger, fox, rabbits, rats, moles.
