Clematis cirrhosa var. balearica.
Has anyone any experience of hard pruning this gorgeous clematis? I'd forgotten it was there, but looked up the other day and there it was, 25 ft up and in several trees. It was planted about 18 years ago against a south-facing low wall. I would like to be able to see the flowers without binoculars!

Great, thanks. I'll let it finish flowering first. Have you tried to propagate it at all?

I have a clematis cirrhosa which flowered beautifully through January. Now the leaves are turning brown. Is that usual, or should I have watered it more--it's in a pot.

it needs watering more Canalhopper.
It often roots itself so yes it easy to propagate.

Thank you. I have watered it but all the leaves have gone brown and it looks pretty sad. Do you have any suggestions please as to how I can revive it?

cut it down to 1 ft and keep watering well. the roots part may still be fine and it may/will re-sprout from the base.

Thank you--I'll try that.

yes . Hubby cut ours that was interfering with the sat dish on the roof to 4ft from the floor 2 years ago. this spring it is back to the dish. so no need to worry it is tough.
