This is not your usual gardening question but it is something I would appreciate your advice on. I've been locking my bicycle to a Yucca tree in the garden using a plastic coated cable, see photo. I put a "D" lock through the loops on the ends of the cable and then the locks to the bike. The "D" lock has a soft rubber coating. I just wanted to know whether you thought this arrangement would cause any damage to the tree.

Agree with the above. Are you sure it is a Yucca 'tree'. Just looking at the trunk it looks more like a Cordyline.

as long as the D lock doesn't chafe away the bark it will be fine. Some one at work does something similar.
